COMPANION CORPORATION HELPS 55 SCHOOLS WITH 200,000 TEXTBOOKS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 21, 2015: Earlier this month COMPanion Corporation sent a team of people to Buffalo, New York to complete a two-week barcoding project that enabled 55 schools to track 200,000 textbooks using COMPanion’s software, Textbook Tracker.

Buffalo School District, a current user of COMPanion’s Alexandria Library Automation Software, was looking for a software system to help eliminate a portion of what their schools were spending to replace lost and damaged textbooks.

Textbook Tracker was a perfect solution. However, the district lacked the manpower to re-barcode several thousand books alone. COMPanion Corporation stepped up to the plate and sent a team of people across the country from their headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jim Barnes wrote a letter to express his appreciation for all of the work Jeff Wheeler, Myra Schjelderup, Noall Montgomery, and Jake Cloward did to enable 55 schools to track 200,000 textbooks.

“While the numbers above are impressive they do not tell the entire story about how impressed we are with your performance and how integral your team is to the successful completion of the this large and complex project:

“Your team has shown great care in doing the job well the first time and assuring a good final product with strong quality control checks.

“You have met or exceeded all of the work schedule goals that are essential to completing this project within the tight time deadlines. You have done this despite having to work around various obstacles such as summer school schedules, summer building maintenance, moves and construction projects.”

-Jim Barnes
Project Manager
Buffalo Public Schools

The staff at COMPanion understands the importance of providing schools and libraries with high-quality software. They see their efforts not solely as a service to the district administrators and librarians who use their software, but as a service to the students who gain a lifetime of education with user-friendly software they understand and enjoy.

COMPanion Corporation places the quality of their products and the level of their service above all else. Completing this project in Buffalo is true a testimony of their mission statement.

The cooperation of programming features between Alexandria and TABvue gives customers powerful tools for the current and future digital demands within their libraries.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jan. 15, 2014 – SALT LAKE CITY — In December of 2013 Alexandria Library Automation Software (Alexandria) customers may take advantage of all the benefits TABvue has to offer with added functionality. TABvue integration is one of the many features that is offered by Alexandria at no additional cost, and each current Alexandria customer is issued a PIN number which gives them the ability to explore the benefits. TABvue is a content delivery service that offers complimentary access to quality eBook resources geared towards students in grades K-8. These eBooks can be fully previewed, purchased, and read online in your default browser without special software. The feature that sets TABvue apart from the competition is that every purchased eBook can be accessed simultaneously by multiple users within the customer’s library system, anywhere, on any device with web access.

TABvue is offering a free MARC record of any eBook purchased to Alexandria customers. When an Alexandria customer purchases titles from TABvue, these titles will become available and automatically appear in Alexandria Researcher without any further steps.

“A common issue that we’re hearing from our customers and prospective customers is that of budget. They ask, ‘What can Alexandria offer to keep me up-to-date while exploring the world of eBooks without raising concern over the cost?’ I would say that our TABvue integration is a great place to start,” says Bill Schjelderup, owner of COMPanion Corporation. “We are trying to bridge the gap between our current library media to what we could possibly expect in the future. With our customer’s suggestions as well as plenty of trend research, we are bringing the best possible product in library automation to our customers.”

Alexandria Plays Important Role In Montevideo Middle School’s Library Functionality

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jan. 7, 2014 – SALT LAKE CITY — Alexandria Library Automation Software (Alexandria) conducted an interview with librarian Gloria White (White) at Montevideo Middle School Library of Rockingham County Public Schools in November of 2013. The discussion of Alexandria’s functionality at the library and the features that are found most beneficial led to learning about the thriving community within Montevideo Middle School Library.

Montevideo Middle School Library has been using Alexandria since 2006. The Alexandria Widget is found prominently on the school’s library website, effectively leading students to the Researcher feature of Alexandria. Once in Researcher, White has set up many personalized icons for students to access the most used tools when searching the library. Some of these icons include NoveList, MackinVIA, and ‘Most Popular’ selections. White mentioned that other librarians in the district really like what she has set up and are customizing the Researcher for their respective schools.

The teachers at Montevideo Middle School are very supportive of reading and have created book talks, reading circles, and discussion groups for books the students are currently reading. White believes that this open discussion forum has encouraged the students to enjoy and comprehend what they’re reading, becoming more likely to share and suggest books to fellow students. This love and respect for reading makes the Montevideo Middle School Library bustle with students finding reference materials, as well as the next book that they’re interested in reading just for fun!

Another one of White’s favorite features within Alexandria is NoveList, as it gives students information on all the books in a series that they’re reading in chronological order. Since many of her students like to follow series of books, she finds NoveList to be a very helpful application. It indicates to Mrs. White what selections of books may be beneficial to purchase for the library as well. White says, “Many libraries find the Alexandria ‘hold’ function to be incredibly helpful. This allows the students to manage their own holds, as there are many favorites that seem to be in constant circulation.”

White has an excellent team to support her efforts in bringing new resources to the library at Montevideo Middle School. With powerful tools offered by Alexandria, support from fellow educators, and the curiosity of the students, White is fully outfitted to continue to bring the magic of reading to her students.

Alexandria is used in thousands of libraries worldwide since 1987, from single libraries to school districts of over 350. They have built a happy, strong, and loyal customer base through listening, understanding, and adding functionality to fit their needs. They offer live technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for product users.
